Deteksi Dini Penurunan Kekuatan Otot melalui Pemeriksaan Handgrip Strength pada Komunitas Gereja Baptis Cengkareng

Penurunan kekuatan otot merupakan komponen utama sarkopenia yang dapat terjadi tidak hanya pada usia lanjut, tetapi juga mulai muncul pada populasi dewasa usia produktif. Kondisi ini sering tidak terdeteksi karena bersifat subklinis pada tahap awal, namun berpotensi menurunkan kapasitas fungsional dan meningkatkan risiko morbiditas. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk melakukan skrining kekuatan otot melalui pengukuran kekuatan genggaman tangan (handgrip strength) sebagai indikator sederhana fungsi otot rangka menggunakan pendekatan Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA). Sebanyak 109 partisipan dewasa terlibat dalam kegiatan ini, dengan rerata usia 42,81±13,55 tahun dan dominasi perempuan (67,9%). Rerata nilai kekuatan genggaman tangan sebesar 23,26±7,41 kg dengan median 22 kg (rentang 10,30–44,55 kg). Secara kategorikal, sebagian besar responden berada dalam kategori normal (72,5%), namun terdapat 27,5% yang termasuk dalam kategori sarkopenia. Analisis hubungan menunjukkan kecenderungan penurunan kekuatan genggaman seiring bertambahnya usia, meskipun kekuatan hubungan tersebut relatif lemah (R²=0,035), yang mengindikasikan adanya faktor lain yang berperan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penurunan kekuatan otot dapat terjadi pada populasi usia produktif dan tidak semata-mata dipengaruhi oleh usia. Skrining berbasis komunitas ini efektif dalam mendeteksi dini sarkopenia serta meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pentingnya menjaga fungsi otot. Integrasi dengan intervensi promotif-preventif seperti peningkatan aktivitas fisik, khususnya latihan kekuatan, serta perbaikan asupan nutrisi diperlukan untuk mencegah progresivitas sarkopenia dan mempertahankan kualitas hidup.
